Candids are a big part of wedding photography in the "digital age." Back when everyone shot film, no one expected the wedding photographer to get behind the scenes, cocktail hour and just plain fun, funny shots. Now that we have nearly unlimited images available, that has changed. And the need for multiple photographers has increased exponentially.
This time, I caught one of the bridesmaids holding too many beers! She was the one just standing around and people kept handing her bottles to hold as they went up to get photos taken. Very good natured, she cheerfully held 4 beers and a bouquet and gave me a big smile when I pointed my camera at her.
I usually keep my Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS on my camera after the ceremony to pick off the random candid as Heather shoots the groups. This time, though, I had the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC on my 5D mkIII which made it more obvious that I was pointing my camera at her, but let me get a wider shot, fortunately.
