Sometimes, the bride getting ready reminds me of a matador traditionally getting dressed before he goes into the ring. Or at least the matadors I've seen in the movies... Several people help her get into a dress, put on garters, shoes, lace up the dress, put on jewelry, all things that on a normal day, they would do for themselves! But on a wedding day, it's all about tradition, and rightly so.
This bride was getting ready at an estate just down the road from the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, in North San Diego County. As wedding photographers, we were really impressed with the property. It is a private home, but they open their doors for friends to take advantage of the spectacular surroundings.
Shot from overhead with a Canon 5D mkIII and 24-70 f2.8L, using mostly the natural light in the room with just a little fill from a Canon 600 EX-RT, it reflects the introspective calm that was in evidence that day.
