Kids at weddings are the best when you can catch them candidly. This little girl, at the Immaculata in San Diego, had apparently been told to always pick up her mess, so she was picking up the flower petals she'd just tossed down! The light was beautiful and the moment was priceless. It was so classic that only black and white made sense for the processing, too.
Shot with a Canon 5D and 70-200 f2.8L IS, it shows, among other things, the importance of long lenses at weddings. A normal lens would have pulled me out into the middle of the ceremony to get this shot. While cropping could have allowed a wider lens to get an image that could be modified to come close to this, the loss of resolution might be critical and it still might not have had the same impact.
All in all, I think this is a beautiful, timeless image, and as wedding photographers, here in San Diego or anywhere else, that's all we can ask for to deliver to our clients!
