Wedding photo of a Groom Overcome with Emotion as his Bride Comes Down the Aisle

Nothing makes a bride's day more than seeing her guy get all emotional when he first sees her! As wedding photographers, here in San Diego, or anywhere else, we live for shots like this, too! It's exciting to hand photos like this over to our couples after the wedding. In addition, things like this are one reason we often recommend against the so-called "first look," where the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony to save time. It may let you get a few more photos done than otherwise, but it robs the couple of those special moments that come with the impact of seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony.
During the ceremony, I'm stationed off to the groom's right, well out of sight, with a long lens on my camera so that, while the photo is tight, I'm not where anyone can notice me. In this case, I had a Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS on my 5D mkIII. Another positive about using long lenses at times like this is that I don't influence the emotion of the moment. If I'd leaned in with a standard lens, he'd probably have wiped the tears away and given me a smile, which would have ruined the moment.
