This was a fun day at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort a very high end venue, with a beautiful ballroom. We had a great time with Ashley and Andrew at their San Diego engagement session in Little Italy. Or I should say, engagement sessions because our first attempt was cut short by the fastest fogging in of downtown San Diego that I’ve ever seen! But the rescheduled attempt went smoothly and we got to know a wonderful couple even better!
On the day of their wedding, while taking photos of the couple alone, we saw the grand piano in this photo and all four of us immediately had the same idea…put Ashley on the piano and have Andrew pretend to work the keyboard. Well, we got her up there, and he sat down on the bench, putting fingers to keys as planned. Then he broke into a Chopin Etude that even silenced the bar as everyone in earshot stopped what they were doing to listen! We didn’t know he could actually PLAY the piano, not to mention that he was such a virtuoso! In all the them we’ve been photographing weddings, that was probably the biggest, most pleasant surprise ever!
Here, again, we’re working with available light, supplementing it with flashes set at a low level to allow the natural look of sunlight to set the mood of the image. Ashley’s beauty certainly helps the cause! It’s moments like this that make being a San Diego wedding photographer the most fun job ever, and gets us noted as High end wedding photographers in our San Diego area!
