Los Willows Wedding Photographer Black and White photo

Getting those important moments are what we, as wedding photographers, whether in San Diego or anywhere else, live for. Getting tight images of details just makes it that much better. Using long, telephoto lenses keeps us from intruding in the scene, but lets us get shots like this one. The very moment they become husband and wife, the ring going on. Shot with a Canon 5D mkIII and 70-200 f2.8L IS at a full 200 mm, I think it really was "the shot!"
Shooting with a long(ish) telephoto does more than just let the photographer get tight to the action. It also compresses a scene a little, which can be a double edged sword. It can muddle it up, or it can add drama by putting more into the image. I use my 70-200 for everything from headshots to detail shots to sneaky candids that no one knows I was there to shoot. The fast, for a tele, lens speed coupled with the high ISO capability of modern DSLRs gives me the ability to shoot just about any thing I want, anywhere I want to shoot it.
