This is a shot I've longed to get for years, but never had the right circumstances. I've always wanted to get an overhead shot of a crowded dance floor at a reception, and at Longshadow Ranch, I finally managed it! They have a loft upstairs that overlooks the dance floor, so all I had to do was stick my camera out over our couple, Amanda and Kyle, point it down and pull the trigger! (Or, more accurately, push the button!) One more photo off of my wedding photography bucket list!
Shot with a Canon 5D mkIII and 580 EXII flash plus a Tamron 15-30 f2.8 VC lens. That lens is truly remarkable, very little distortion for a lens that wide and fast combined with really good sharpness, edge to edge and nice color.
Longshadow Ranch is in Temecula Valley's Wine Country. It is a unique blend of horse range and winery with a real country vibe to it.
