A lineup of groomsmen doesn't have to be straight and it doesn't have to be "right over left," either. As a matter of fact, I have an aversion to people in straight lines. I always try to line my guys up loosely, making use of architecture or topography to make the image interesting. This works especially well for handling large groups. It keeps it from getting visually too wide, or to "wall-like."
This wedding was at the Marine Memorial Chapel at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, Ca. It's a small chapel on a military base with a lot of history, dating back to before World War II. It's a charming, traditional looking little church with nice lighting and good sightlines.
This image was shot with a Canon 5D mkIII and a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC with a Canon 580 EX II giving a little extra definition on an overcast day.
